KiDS Ministry
Our hope is that the kids at Providence increasingly see that the Bible is one unified story: the story of God’s good creation, humanity’s fall into sin, God’s work of redemption through Christ, and His promise of restoration. We want them not only to know the stories of Scripture, but to know the God those stories reveal, understand the good news of Jesus, and increasingly recognize what it means to live as God’s people in the world.
As they grow into adolescence and young adulthood, we want them to move from a faith that has been taught to a faith they increasingly own, developing a deeper understanding of the gospel, growing in spiritual maturity, wrestling honestly with questions, and learning to faithfully follow Christ in every area of life so that they enter the world as adults who are both rooted and resilient
WHAT WE ARE LEARNING. . .
IN SUNDAY SCHOOL!
Grade 1
The Big IDEA!
I belong to God! God is faithful and caring, and Jesus loves me and invites me to follow Him.
Grade 2
The Big IDEA!
Jesus is God’s Son! His power, compassion, and love show us who He is and invite us to trust and follow Him!
Grade 3
The Big IDEA!
God created a good world, sin disrupted it, and God continues to faithfully pursue, rescue, provide for, and lead His people!
Grade 4
The Big IDEA!
God’s grace changes us, Jesus calls us to live as people of His kingdom, and the Holy Spirit
empowers us to live and share the Gospel!
Grade 5
The Big IDEA!
God remains faithful to His promises even when His people are not, and He continues to work through imperfect people!
Grade 6
The Big IDEA!
Our faith is grounded in who God is, what Christ
has done, and the work of the Holy Spirit!
Grade 7
The Big IDEA!
Because of what God has done for us in Christ, our faith shapes how we think, treat others, and live!
Grade 8
The Big IDEA!
Following Jesus affects every area of life. We are called to worship, know His word, seek justice, pray, care for others and participate in His mission.
Grades 9 - 12
The Big IDEA!
My faith is becoming my own! I can ask questions, seek understanding, and grow in my confidence as I follow Jesus and live out my faith.
Extra opportunities for our elementary age students!
WORSHIP
Every other Sunday, grades 1-5 spend the first 15 minutes of Sunday School (10:45-11:00am) participating in worship together!
BIBLE MEMORY CAMP
Grades 1-5 have the option of participating in BMC. Students memorize and recite scripture with a BMC Leader. The scripture that is chosen is done intentionally with the Pastor and the ministry team.
-
For first time and regular attendees: if your child will attend Kids Ministries (2-5 year olds), please register them in our KidCheck system and sign in on the app or on the iPads by door A when you arrive.
-
All parents or legal guardians must fill out a WaiverSign form for each child attending any of our Kids Ministries. This is done annually.
-
When is Kids Ministry available?
2-5 year olds meet during the worship service (after the opening part of worship) for a time of Bible lessons, songs, and play.
1st-12th grade meets after the worship service during our Sunday School and Catechism hour from 10:45-11:45am.
What curriculum do you use?
We use Gospel-centered curriculum that aligns with Reformed theology and engages kids at their age. Our youngest learners hear and respond to Bible stories through play and wonder; elementary kids explore God’s Word through hands on lessons and discussion; and, middle and high schoolers dive deeper through our Heidelberg Catechism and Confessions studies.
Do I need to register my child?
Yes, registration allows us to keep kids safe! And, it helps us to prepare for your child, communicate with you as needed, and ensure we have up-to-date emergency contact information. Please use the KidCheck Registration and WaiverSign forms on the webpage.
We’re always glad to welcome visiting families or those trying Providence for the first time! Just stop by the welcome center and ask for help with our in-person KidCheck stations — we’ll get you connected.
What if my child has special needs or requires extra support?
We want every child to feel welcome and cared for. If your child has unique needs, please reach out in advance so we can work together on the best plan for support and inclusion.
